Flash Brewing

Pour it over ice yo!

Unless you are a diehard hot coffee drinker, sometimes it’s tough drinking coffee in the middle of summer with the Georgia heat. We certainly see an increase in sales of cold drinks at our cafe and pop ups during the summer but what about if you want to make something at home? We’ve got you covered with the Flash Brew technique! This originated in Japan and is great for 2 reasons. Number one, its damn good and has a way of bringing out coffee flavors that you might not get with hot coffee and number 2, its quick and easy, taking minutes compared to hours of traditional cold brewing.

We made this recipe and video at our cafe on Baxter Street and think it is really good with some of our natural processed beans.

Don’t have a scale, pour over, or specialty coffee? That’s OK! Just make a pot of coffee by adding less water (or more grounds) and pour that bad boy over some ice! It will probably taste good and cool you off at the same time. Seriously, there is no perfect answer when flash brewing, and the more you mess around with your own recipe to make it the way YOU like it, the better it will be. Use ours for a starting point but let your palate be the guide.

Here is a good starting point!

Check this article on Flash Brew if you want to dive deeper and learn more about how it differs from other techniques and why others think its great.

Cheers!
